It's a mid-century modernist design of repetitive geometric stylized 'S' links ending in dual sphere accents. The Mesoamerican-inspired patterns are emphasized with textured, oxidized recessed areas. The matching earrings have a rectangular geometric top with spray links that dangle freely to match the necklace's movement. There is a variation in the markings, which is common; however, this is a marriage of two original period pieces. Most likely, they are a set in which components were stamped at different tables in the workshop. The necklace is hallmarked on one of the sprays as "Taxco Silver," and the earrings are hallmarked "Sterling" on the back. Also, it would be difficult to stamp Taxco Silver on such a small space on the earrings. Produced in the 1980s, this gorgeous set is a textbook example of Late Mexican Modernist jewelry. It's bold with strong architectural shapes and mimics the industrial-inspired lines of the movement. The collar necklace weighs 119g. The earrings weigh a total of 14g. This demi-parure is in excellent condition and without deep scratches. No kinks in the link, and they are tight; the patina is stunning.

Gemstone: William Spratling is fundamentally responsible for the existence, style, and geographic heritage of this set, even though it was indirect. This full-set parure of vintage, 1940s to 1950s, Zuni turquoise flower clusters includes a necklace, 7" bracelet, and screwback earrings. The detailed work is outstanding, and you can clearly see the love and patience that went into it. Each stone is secured by a sawtooth bezel. Every stone is perfect; not cracked or scratched on any of the pieces. Every piece of sterling is stamped Sterling, which ensures that both the handmade framework and the multiple parts are composed of sterling silver. The only hallmark on these 3 is 'Sterling.' Early to mid-20th century Native American artisan pieces were only stamped with the metal type or, alternatively, left entirely unmarked. This allowed for the regional style to speak for itself, and it certainly does. Location of manufacture is the Zuni Reservation, Zuni Pueblo, in McKinley and Cibola counties, New Mexico. The era aligned with a massive post-WWII boom in American road-trip tourism along Route 66, which cuts directly through the Southwest. The multi-strand mesh consists of dozens of fluid, delicate silver foxtail strands, layered together to create a rich, fabric-like texture. The gold vermeil-plated connector pieces separate and align the strands. There is a wide band matching bracelet which measures approximately 7.5". Hallmarked 84 NU 925, this set is a rare and highly collectible 20th-century, between the late 1940s and the 1970s, wearable art. The heavy barrel and pin clasp design is a textbook feature of mid-century European and Mediterranean regional silver export work. The rare slip-pin lock style closure on both the necklace and bracelet is intact. This demi-parure is in excellent pre-owned condition. Bracelet weighs: 65g, and the necklace collar bib weighs 136g.
