While each gemstone has its own unique properties, the following care guidelines apply to most semi-precious stones:
- Avoid sudden temperature changes.
- Remove jewelry before strenuous activity, swimming, or household chores.
- Keep gemstones away from perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, and harsh chemicals.
- Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth if needed, then dry immediately.
- Never use bleach, ammonia, acetone, or abrasive cleaners.
- Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners unless the specific gemstone is known to be safe for those methods.
- Store jewelry separately to prevent gemstones from scratching one another.
