Handcrafted 1935 United States Buffalo-Nickel-Ring

Also known as an Indian Head Nickel, this ring is composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel. The band however is silver. The coin does not contain any actual silver or precious metals but it is an example of quintessential Americana. The profile on the coin is a composite of three different Native American individuals: Chief Iron Tail (Oglala Lakota), Chief Two Moons (Cheyenne) and Chief Big Tree (Kiowa). The sculptor of the coin, James Earle Fraser, combined the facial features of three distinct chiefs who modeled for him. While the artwork depicts on unified portrait, it represents three different Native American leaders. Excellent Pre-Loved condition. Size 5.5
