Vintage Zuni Pueblo Petit Point Turquoise Screwback Earrings
These are traditional Native American Zuni Pueblo cluster work petit point earrings. Meticulously set are small, teardrop-shaped turquoise stones that are individually shaped and secured in fine saw-tooth bezels. The fan-like base is reminiscent of a squash blossom or a bird's tail, with the shape being a stylized flower, leaf, or turtle cluster motif. The traditional and Sterling stamped vintage screwbacks date these collectible, Native American pieces of art to somewhere between the 1930s and the 1950s. Beautifully handcrafted and in excellent condition. Screwbacks are smooth and have a stunning natural patina. Approximately 7/8" and 4g total weight.
Gemstone: During the 1930s - 1950s era, screwback findings stamped "Sterling" were manufactured in bulk by commercial jewelry supply companies and sold to Native American silversmiths throughout the Southwest.
