Vintage Baltic Honey Amber Silver Floral Brooch
From the Art Nouveau period (c. 1890-1910) through the mid-20th century, this vintage brooch pin features a large Honey Baltic Amber cabochon set in a silver grapevine or leaf motif. The stone is a warm honey color and is set in sterling silver. The grapevine motif with sculpted leaves was popular in Danish and Russian artisan jewelry. The tiny stamp on the pin indicates that this brooch is a vintage Soviet-era piece from Russia and was manufactured between 1958 and 1993. Weighs 12g and is approximately 2.5" in length. The butterscotch-egg-yolky color of the cabochon is the desirable opaque, milky profile. It also has a smooth surface, no chips or flea bites. A beautiful patina on this piece of historical artistry from back in the USSR.
Gemstone: Flea Bites, with reference to amber, is a jeweler's term for tiny, microscopic chips along the edges or surface of the gemstone.
