Vintage Siam Sterling Silver Niello Fan Shaped Brooch

Manufactured in Siam, now known as Thailand, between the 1930s and the mid-1960s, this vintage Siam Sterling Silver Niello Fan-Shaped Brooch was a highly popular souvenir for American soldiers stationed in Southeast Asia in the mid-20th century. This piece of jewelry is delicate and flawless; there are no chips, and the frame surrounding the fan has no bent filigree or cracks in the silver. 10g and approximately 1.75".

Gemstone: The figures on the brooch are from the Ramakien, Thailand's national epic. On the right is Mani Mekkala, the Goddess of Lightning, shown holding a magical crystal ball that creates flashes of light. On the left is Ramasoon, the God of Thunder, depicted chasing her and throwing his enchanted axe to create the sound of thunder.
